Keith Giusto Bakery Supply (KGBS), a premier distributer of Central Milling Organic Flour, is looking to fill our buyer position. From our offices in Petaluma, California, we distribute the complete line of Central Milling flour and grain, accompanied by specialty bakery ingredients such as sugar, salt, seeds, and chocolate. Our clients run the gamut from major Bay Area production facilities to small independent artisan bakeries. We have our own fleet to distribute through Northern California but also ship throughout and outside the state using third party carriers. Our goal is to support artisan and organic baking businesses with the highest quality products they need to succeed while delivering top notch customer service.
This is a full-time buyer position located in the main office. The Buyer will be responsible for managing inventory levels, analyzing product sales trends, placing orders for ingredients and supplies, and ensuring timely delivery of goods. The buyer will maintain healthy, productive relationships with our suppliers, negotiating prices and buying contracts. They will be working closely with many team members, the general manager, sales team, warehouse lead, operations team and inventory control to maintain optimal stock levels.
We pride ourselves on a positive work environment and team work. To be successful you need to be organized, have good time management, strong communication skills, good interpersonals and a sense of humor. All our inventory is done through the NetSuite system. Previous knowledge is a plus, but knowing another inventory sales software system, like Salesforce, would help you pick things up quickly as well. Using Excel, Word, and Outlook would be part of the day-to-day functions along with frequent phone conversations. The job is grounded in evaluating trends and creating effective projections. As such, strong analytical math skills are a necessity. Working remote is not an option, the job requires frequent collaboration with other team members and we highly value face to face interactions.
We posted a starting pay rate of $31 to $35 per hour, negotiable based on experience. Having experience buying in the food industry or with fast turning product would be preferred. Benefits include Kaiser medical and vision covered at 90% for the employee, 50% for others on the plan. Dental plan. 401K eligible after one year with the company.
