Community Lending Officer - San Jose, CA (Evergreen) - Hybrid Join to apply for the Community Lending Officer - San Jose, CA (Evergreen) - Hybrid role at Citi Role Overview The Community Mortgage Lending Officer is an entry-level position responsible for driving mortgage sales and client relationships through engagement with community clients, diverse real estate agents, and affordable housing non-profit partners in coordination with the Consumer Product Sales team. The role involves direct sales of specific mortgage products to clients. Responsibilities Consult with customers about their financial situation, objectives, and lending needs to help achieve their homeownership goals. Collect and analyze financial information, including income, assets, debts, cash flow, and credit history. Assess customer and property eligibility for lending solutions based on financial analysis. Recommend suitable lending solutions aligned with customer objectives. Inform customers about the risks, benefits, and consequences of different lending options. Promote Citi's brand and financial services to real estate agents, builders, referral sources, and customers. Visit customers outside of Citi's offices, varying based on clientele and market conditions. Collaborate with internal partners to support and grow customer relationships. Refer clients to other Citi professionals for additional financial services. Partner with Operations to ensure smooth loan application processing. Work with Processors/Closers to ensure timely loan closings. Develop referral relationships with realtors, CPAs, builders, etc., to increase mortgage business. Assess risks when making business decisions, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and escalating issues appropriately. Introduce clients to segment partners as needed. Stay informed about industry trends, local market developments, and regulatory changes. Attend 2-3 diverse realtor and/or nonprofit events monthly. This position requires registration as a mortgage loan originator with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) and maintaining that registration annually. Qualifications 2-5 years relevant experience, including residential mortgage experience. 3+ years mortgage sales experience. Established relationships with realtor organizations and nonprofit lenders. Experience with community loan products, including LMI solutions and assistance programs. Knowledge of FHA/VA and conventional loans preferred. Ability to explain financial calculations and pricing options. Strong customer service and relationship management skills. Self-motivated and independent worker. Knowledge of consumer lending laws and regulations. Originate at least 3 loans per month, with a focus on minority tracts or CRA-eligible loans. Education Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
