Job Description

A busy and well-established legal team in Newport Beach is seeking an in-office Paralegal to support its nationally recognized public finance practice. Candidates must have prior experience as a public finance or corporate paralegal and strong word processing and document management skills. A minimum of 2–3 years of law firm experience is required. The salary range is flexible and will be commensurate with experience.

About the Role:

You’ll play a key support role in a variety of public finance transactions, working closely with attorneys to draft, revise, and manage legal documents from inception through closing. This includes general obligation bond matters, improvement district proceedings, election documents, and related transactional materials. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proficient in Microsoft Word, and thrives in a collaborative, detail-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, revise, and proofread legal documents with high accuracy.
  • Assist in preparing closing documents, including resolutions, certificates, and checklists.
  • Manage the flow of transaction documents via email, virtual data rooms, and FedEx.
  • Act as a liaison with clients, government agencies, and other parties involved in the transaction.
  • Conduct page-checks, ensure proper execution of documents, and manage the final assembly of closing transcripts.
  • Maintain and update corporate records for nonprofit client entities involved in financing.
  • Format and convert documents across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF.
  • Perform standard legal assistant duties, including scheduling, making travel arrangements, organizing events, and maintaining client files.
  • Track billable time using legal billing software (Elite 3E).

Qualifications:

  • 2–5 years of relevant legal assistant or paralegal experience; public finance experience a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree and paralegal certificate strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word; experience with virtual data rooms (e.g., Firmex) a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively.
  • Availability to work overtime as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
  • Occasional standing at copier/scanner (1–2 hours per week).
