About the Company

Our client is a first of its kind space company founded by two entrepreneurs who have orchestrated successful exits. They are pioneering a patent-pending concept that blends space and luxury, designing an exclusive experience for an elite clientele. With a mission to push the boundaries of both industries, they are developing novel technologies and redefining how high net worth individuals leave their legacy.

About the Role

As the CTO you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technological direction of our client’s company. You will be responsible for leading the development and execution of our technology strategy, overseeing the engineering and design of spacecraft and related technologies, and building a talented engineering team. This role requires a dynamic leader with a deep technical background in spacecraft engineering.

 

Responsibilities  

  • Technology Vision and Strategy: Partner with the Co-Founders to develop and drive the overall technology strategy for the company, aligning it with the long-term vision and business objectives. Identify and leverage existing and emerging technologies to deliver results quickly.

  • Engineering Leadership: Oversee the design, development, manufacturing, testing, and flight operations of spacecraft systems (hardware and software) and technologies. Ensure that engineering projects are executed efficiently and meet high standards of quality and safety.

  • Team Building: Recruit, mentor, and lead a diverse team of engineers and technical experts. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.

  • Product Development: Guide the cradle to grave development process of spacecraft and related technologies, from concept and design to prototyping and production. Collaborate closely with the other Co-Founders and stakeholders to define product requirements and milestones.

  • Technical Problem Solving: Address and resolve complex technical challenges that arise during the development and deployment of spacecraft. Implement effective solutions to ensure project success and operational excellence.

  • Investor Relations: Assist in securing funding by presenting technical aspects of the company's vision and progress to potential investors, as needed. Provide technical insights and updates to investors and stakeholders.

Compensation

  • Equity only until funding is secured, then salary will be market rate with strong equity.

Requirements

  • Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience:  Proven track record of leadership (5+ years) in the space industry. Experience in a senior technical leadership role is highly desirable. Demonstrated success in leading complex technology projects and managing engineering teams.

  • Technical Expertise: 10+ years of space experience. Deep understanding of spacecraft systems, including propulsion technologies, avionics, GNC, communication systems, and mission design. Ideal candidates will have direct hands-on experience with at least two of these domains but all should be able to lead the high level direction of all departments.

  • Innovation and Vision:  Strong ability to envision and execute cutting-edge technological solutions. Passion for space exploration and a commitment to advancing the field.

  • Leadership and Communication:  Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team. Excellent communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Entrepreneurial Spirit:  Experience in early-stage start-up environments is highly desired. Dynamic and willing to take on tasks outside of their typical scope. A proactive and adaptable mindset; ability to take calculated risks and drive innovation is necessary.

Location

This role is currently remote. The person who fills this position will have a hand in identifying where headquarters is placed. It will then be an on-site role. Currently considering Florida’s Space Coast, Denver, Los Angeles, Austin and Houston.
