We have an exciting opportunity for a Environmental Control and Life Support System (ECLSS) Air Project Manager to join the team.

The Air Team researches and develops new technology to support ISS and Orion life support systems. The Project Manager will:
  • Develop and manage a plan to produce and test flight demo hardware including cost and schedules, identifying/managing personnel resources, and other activities for the Peroxide Generation Unit (PGU) and Nitrogen Resupply projects.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage environmental testing of developmental hardware for the Medical Oxygen project.
  • Coordinate and plan a ground-based demonstration of a cryogenic boil off capture experiment, as well as converting N2O to N2 in support of the Nitrogen Resupply project.
  • Lead the team through NASA JSC Flight Hardware Life Cycle, Certification, and Engineering processes.
  • Monitor cost performance against established plans.
  • Develop and maintain company and customer (primarily government) financial reports.
  • Obtain vendor estimates and submit/track purchase requests.
  • Oversee and develop procedures, work instructions and process flows.
  • Interface frequently with inter-organizational disciplines, NASA System Managers, and operational customers.
  • Perform job functions based on pre-established guidelines or instructions.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requisition Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering and normally possess 5-10 years of related experience. License and certification may be required.
  • Experience with NASA/JSC Class I flight hardware process and certification.
  • Prior experience managing and leading a team.
  • Experience with requirements development, design trades, risk analysis, and system analysis of space hardware.
  • Self-motivated, team player and adaptability to a dynamic environment and the ability to complete all assignments as required .
  • Must have the ability to visualize and work with complex mechanical/electrical systems and work with others in problem solving as part of a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and will be expected to effectively interact with customers and management at all levels.
  • Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings.
  • Must be able to review Work Authorization Documents (WADs) to process Class I hardware for flight/testing support.
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines and schedules.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
Requisition Preferences:
  • Experience in lab operations, pressure systems, including Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams
  • Familiarity with common hand tools and proficiency using them to perform assembly, disassembly, and troubleshooting on mechanical systems.
  • Prior experience with hardware anomaly troubleshooting and failure analysis
  • Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures.

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
