Firmware Software Engineer

Location: Sunnyvale, CA (Onsite)

Duration: 6+ Months, Extendable

Pay Rate: $100–$110/hr (W2)

Overview:

• We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Firmware Software Engineer to join a team developing next-generation virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in embedded systems development, working across hardware and software disciplines to bring innovative consumer products to life.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, integrate, qualify, and test firmware and software features.
• Develop and implement embedded algorithms in C/C++ for microcontrollers and application processors.
• Write and maintain design documentation for all stages of the development lifecycle.
• Debug and validate firmware using tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
• Conduct testing and provide post-development support as needed.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 4+ years of industry experience in embedded firmware development.
• Proficient in C/C++ and Python for firmware development, testing, and performance analysis.
• Experience with embedded interfaces and protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART.
• Strong understanding of hardware-level concepts like interrupts, clock gating, polling, and delays.
• Experience with development tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and debuggers.
• Willingness to work across multiple domains including hardware, software, and validation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• M.S./PhD with 5+ years in firmware development for battery-powered or consumer electronics.
• Familiarity with RTOS (Real-Time Operating Systems).
• Hands-on experience with battery management systems or fuel gauge algorithms.
• Experience developing handheld or wearable electronics at scale.
• Knowledge of system-on-chip (SoC) or microcontroller platforms (e.g., NXP, Qualcomm).
• Strong documentation and communication skills.

Interview Process:

• Rounds: 2–3 rounds total
• Structure: 1–2 software technical interviews + 1 cross-functional interview
• Duration: ~45 minutes per round
