Job Description

Due to our continued growth and the increasing complexity of our HR operations, VeraSafe is seeking an experienced, strategic, and proactive Head of HR to lead our HR department. This fully remote role requires a dynamic leader who can oversee the HR function, drive strategic HR initiatives, and ensure efficient HR processes that align with our business objectives.

About the Role:

As the Head of HR , you will play a pivotal role in managing and improving our HR function, providing strategic guidance to leadership, and helping navigate compliance across multiple jurisdictions in North America, the EU, and Southern Africa. You will lead strategic HR planning and initiatives for a very intelligent, driven, and dynamic team of professionals.

This is a full-time, remote position that operates within U.S. Eastern Time (GMT -5) and may require time flexibility to collaborate with international teams. We are open to considering a shifted or part-time schedule for a very organized and dedicated candidate. Key Responsibilities

HR Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and implement HR strategies that align with business goals. For example, we are interested in your ideas on facilitating effective communication, meaningful connection, and timely feedback in a fully remote environment.
  • Collaborate with leadership to define workforce planning and talent acquisition, retention, and compensation strategies across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Demonstrate creative thinking about the future of work – which we see as remote and distributed – and of legal and compliance work.

Talent Acquisition & Recruitment

  • Oversee the recruitment process, ensuring alignment with VeraSafe’s hiring needs.
  • Provide guidance on job descriptions, skills assessments, and shortlisting criteria.

Performance Management & Employee Development

  • Implement training and leadership development initiatives.
  • Support department heads and managers in developing their coaching and feedback styles to ensure top performance across cultural boundaries.

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Manage HR policies, procedures, and documentation to address compliance across different jurisdictions.
  • Oversee compensation structures and benefits administration and advise on improvements to same.
  • Provide strategic insights on workforce planning, employee retention, change management and engagement.

Employee Relations & Culture

  • Supervise the organization of company retreats, team-building events, and other culture-enhancing activities.

Skills Required

  • Proven HR leadership experience (5+ years in an HR leadership role, (including talent development), preferably in a legal, consulting, professional services, or start-up environment).
  • Experience managing remote teams and handling HR across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong understanding of employment laws and HR best practices in the U.S. and internationally.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong management skills (you will have 4 direct reports) and an interest in fostering the professional development of your team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and ADP WorkforceNow required. Experience with other HR software tools is a plus.
