Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Ironworker to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assembling, installing, and repairing iron and steel structures, ensuring that all work adheres to safety standards and building codes. This role requires a strong understanding of construction practices and the ability to work effectively in a team environment on various job sites.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and install metal frameworks, including beams, columns, and trusses.
  • Utilize hand tools and power tools to cut, shape, and weld metal components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes and safety regulations throughout the construction process.
  • Operate forklifts and other machinery as needed to transport materials on construction sites.
  • Perform ductwork installation as part of HVAC systems when required.
  • Use micrometers for precise measurements during assembly tasks.
  • Conduct routine inspections of completed work to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Collaborate with other tradespeople on-site to ensure efficient workflow.

Skills

  • Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools specific to ironworking tasks.
  • Strong understanding of basic math principles for accurate measurements and calculations.
  • Familiarity with construction site protocols and safety practices.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards governing ironwork installations.
  • Experience with FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding) techniques is preferred.
  • Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions while maintaining safety standards.
  • Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues.
