About Us
Biostate AI is a startup co-founded by former professors David Zhang (Rice Bioengineering) and Ashwin Gopinath (MIT Mechanical Engineering) and backed by top venture capitalists including Accel and Matter Venture Partners. Biostate has invented and patented methods for performing RNA library preparation and sequencing at less than 20% the cost of typical vendors, with a fast turnaround time of 1-3 weeks. Our proprietary technology enables us to handle low-input and difficult biospecimens, such as formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue samples, making our solutions ideal for pharmaceutical and biotech companies.
Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven full time Key Account Sales Representative to expand our business in the Boston area as well as the whole US. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying and engaging biotech and pharmaceutical companies, building strong client relationships, and driving sales of our RNASeq services. This full time position is partially commission-based, with a base salary of between $120,000 and $150,000 per year depending on experience, and a 7% commission on all revenue generated with no cap. The commission rate may be adjusted in future years, but will remain at or above industry standard rates. This is a growth position and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to build and expand a sales team in the future as management.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct in-person visits to biotech and pharmaceutical companies to promote our RNASeq services. Educate potential clients on the benefits of our rapid, cost-effective RNASeq solutions. Attend conferences and industry events to explore new business opportunities and expand our network.
Build and maintain strong relationships with decision makers and key stakeholders in potential customer organizations.
Collect customer feedback to improve service offerings and customer experience, identifying opportunities for upselling additional services.
Requirements
Prior key account sales experience to biotech/pharma, handling B2B orders of between $50,000 and $1,000,000.
Existing positive work relationships with at least 10 biotech and/or pharma companies.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and meet sales targets.
Rapid learner with the ability and interest to adopt modern AI tools to improve efficiency of customer outreach and communications.
Travel locally within the Boston area (50% time) and outside Boston within the US (25% time) for customer visits.
