Banc Mac, a United Community Bancorp entity, is in search of a Mortgage Loan Underwriter. Due to the expansion of correspondent and broker loan programs with banks and credit unions within the wholesale unit we are looking to add another position. This position is currently in house. The Underwriter performs a wide range of duties related to the underwriting of secondary market residential mortgage loans.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Renders underwriting decisions and subsequent clearing conditions to ensure credit guidelines are met
  • Corresponds with Third Party Bank Lenders
  • Keeps current on investor, agency and compliance guidelines
  • Assists in timely completion and review of Adverse Action Loans and other tasks as warranted
  • Other related duties as assigned

Computer Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point)
  • Encompass software knowledge is a plus

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Current FHA/DE/VA government designation a plus
  • FHA underwriting experience a plus
  • 3 years of experience as an underwriter preferred
  • 5 years of mortgage experience preferred

  • General knowledge of bank procedures and how they apply to other areas of the bank

Attendance Requirements:

Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start work. Employees are expected to remain at work for their entire work schedule. Late arrival, early departure or other absences from scheduled hours should be avoided.

This job operates in a clerical setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
