Job Summary:
The Plant Training Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of training programs within our manufacturing plants. They ensure plant employees receive the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs safely and efficiently, while aligning training initiatives with overall plant operations and HR strategies. This includes identifying training needs, designing curriculum, delivering training sessions, and tracking employee progress to maintain compliance and optimize performance.
The successful candidate will have the ability to:
- Travel as needed between manufacturing plants and corporate office. Position is based out of New Lenox, IL plant with frequent travel to Minden, NV plant and to Glenview, IL corporate office.
- Partner with manufacturing plants’ leadership on training objectives to deliver plant production goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Needs Analysis: Conduct training needs assessments to identify gaps in employee skills and knowledge, aligning training priorities with plant production goals and safety requirements
- Curriculum Development: In partnership with plant management, design and develop comprehensive training programs, including onboarding, operational skills, quality control and compliance training, incorporating relevant industry standards and best practices.
- Training Delivery: Facilitate training sessions for new hires and existing employees, utilizing various delivery methods like classroom instruction, hands-on demonstrations, e-learning modules, and on-the job training.
- Performance Evaluation: Work with plant department leads to monitor employee performance post-training to assess the effectiveness of programs, identify areas for improvement, and make adjustments as needed.
- Compliance Management: Ensure all training programs adhere to relevant safety regulations, labor laws, and company policies, maintaining accurate training records and documentation
- Collaboration with Management: Work closely with plant management, supervisors, and other HR personnel to identify training needs, communicate training plans, and address any training-related concerns.
- Trainer Development: Provide coaching and support to plant supervisors and other designated trainers to enhance their training delivery skills.
- Budget Management: Manage the training budget, including costs associated with materials, training platforms, and external training providers.
Education and Skills
- Education Requirements : Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 3-5 years of related experience in a production environment or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Manufacturing Experience: Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and safety protocols within a plant environment.
- Training Expertise : Proven experience in designing, developing and delivering effective training programs for diverse audiences
- Instructional Design: Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies to create engaging and impactful training content.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively present information, provide feedback, and interact with employees at all levels.
- Leadership Abilities: Ability to motivate and guide trainees, fostering a positive learning environment and promoting employee development.
- HR Knowledge: Familiarity with HR policies, compliance requirements, and performance management practices.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in using learning management systems (LMS) and other training technology tools to manage and track training progress. Experience with Alchemy a plus
- Languages: Must be bi-lingual (English / Spanish)

- Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods, push, pull, lift, climb, bend, stoop, squat, and use manual dexterity to work with tools such as keyboard, mouse, files, portable stairs etc.
- Ability to safely lift 50 pounds frequently and move heavier weights using proper equipment and/or team lifting techniques
Work Environment
- Requires ability to work in an environment that may contain non-toxic fumes, dust, odors, moderate level noise, and temperature & ventilation variations while wearing any appropriate safety and/or protective clean room apparel required e.g.: uniforms, safety glasses, safety shoes, gloves, hair net, beard net, face mask or respirator
- Work environment sometimes involves exposure to inclement weather
