What To Expect Tesla is seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join the Policy Team to support electric vehicle charging policy in North America. The role involves collaborating with the Policy and Commercial Charging Teams to enable sustainable and widespread EV charging infrastructure. Key responsibilities include providing analytical, research, and advocacy support to address legislative, regulatory, or jurisdictional barriers to infrastructure deployment, engaging on policies related to standards, permitting, and operational requirements, and aligning business priorities with public policy goals. The position is based in Palo Alto, CA. What You'll Do Monitor and analyze regulatory requirements for charging stations to assess impacts on deployment, operations, and technology development. Engage with external stakeholders and develop coalitions to advocate for EV charging priorities, including regulatory filings and legislation. Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, utility partners, and trade groups. Develop legislative and regulatory strategies to create new market opportunities. Support research on emerging topics for scaling EV charging infrastructure. Represent Tesla in regulatory proceedings, public hearings, and through written and verbal comments. Support land-use and permitting escalations for priority charging projects. What You'll Bring Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent experience. At least 4 years of relevant experience in energy markets, policy, utilities, or public policy. Proven track record influencing policy in complex regulatory markets, stakeholder engagement, drafting comments, and providing testimony. Ability to distill complex technical topics across energy and transportation issues. Experience managing multiple policy issues and engaging stakeholders to drive advocacy. Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of explaining technical policy points effectively. Self-motivated, results-driven, willing to travel, and able to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
