Position: Special Education Director


District: Oxford Public Schools


Start Date: Immediately


Salary Range $158,931 - $176,587

Overview:

The Director of Special Education serves as a champion for students with disabilities, providing oversight for all special education students, programming, funding and compliance metrics. The Director collaborates closely and develops relationships with school administrators, district leaders and families.

Qualifications :

• Must hold current CT certification (092) Administrative Certificate and (165) Special Education or Related Service Certification
• At least 5 years experience as a provider of special services
• At least 2-3 years of experience in a school or district leadership role
• Exceptional communication skills
• Experience with building internal capacity in a broad array of special education areas
• Experience in budget development for special services and programs

Key Responsibilities:

• District leadership for all special education and related services, including K-12 services, PreK, Connections Program and Explorations Program
• Stakeholder communications and relationship building
• Recruit, hire, supervise and evaluate special education staff
• Budget development for special education services and programs
• Develop and manage IDEA grant
• Develop special education strategic plan
• Develop annual SMART Goals
• Manage special education compliance
• Coordinate with external agencies
• Ensures legal and ethical compliance
• Monitoring special education transportation
• Provides relevant professional development for all PPS staff
• Serves as District Section 504 Coordinator
• Oversees the reimbursement process for Medicaid
• Oversees SRBI Process
• Attends monthly BOE meetings
