Job Description:
This role is primarily responsible for strategically implementing the business strategy for a key area of focus, the Alternative Sales Channel, including the development and management of the collection. Additionally, this role supports the implementation of the total product strategy in the Alternative channels and select key retailers.
This individual will be the brand's advocate for their product category, ensuring that new and existing products enhance the brand and maintain the brand's positioning. The ideal candidate for this position can demonstrate their creative energy and passion for implementing product initiatives and launches.
In addition to product development and P&L management, key success attributes include a high level of curiosity and drive to champion consumer-led ideas through execution with cross-functional teams.
Insights and Strategy
· Responsible for translating business objectives into actionable, coordinated annual plans to deliver long term category growth.
· Leverages consumer insights and data to sell-in and drive strategic initiatives.
· Builds and maintains category expertise with a thorough understanding of the target consumer, competitive insights, customer strategies, and sales environment.
· Leverage insights and concept testing to refine product and concepts into winning definition for product projects, technology briefs, marketing initiatives.
· Analyze portfolio to help identify opportunities such as adjacent product categories and channel expansion / diversification.
Business and Product Management
· Manage category P&L, support S&OP and FP&A processes for Alternative Channel business
· Understands drivers of any gaps to sales/profit performance and uses cross-functional relationships to recommend and implement a plan of action.
· Lead development of business cases for new products, promotions and operational projects, including estimating sales and financials.
· Responsible for understanding competitive landscape and making recommendations for how to win in the market via product, price, promotion and distribution.
· Uses collaboration and facilitation skills to build productive and powerful internal relationships to advance key initiatives.
Innovation and Product Development
· Accountable for innovation pipeline (concepts, prototyping, commercialization) for category. Manages health of the funnel relative to product roadmap and innovation priorities.
· Develops a winning product pipeline while balancing product innovation and financial targets in close partnership with Sales.
· Product project champion defining positioning and winning features/benefits, leading advisory groups, owning financial business cases.
· Serves as Brand Management lead on new product core teams partnering heavily with product development and operations to successfully design and develop winning new product on time, on cost, and on quality.
· Partners with marketing and communications team to translate insights, features and benefits into compelling marketing and advertising.
· Manage product lifecycle.
Channel and Customer Support
· Partner to retail marketing and/or sales operations on brand or product-centric initiatives.
· Independently represents the brand/products in customer/channel meetings with top retail customers
· Established knowledge of key channel/customer P&L, sales processes, strengths and opportunities.
Qualifications:
· Proven track record of delivering results in a large organization
· Excellent business acumen
· High level of curiosity with ability to solve complex problems
· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
· Strong consumer focus
· Communicates persuasively, conveying complex information in a clear and concise manner
· Minimum of 6 years of product development or other relevant experience; leadership skills; P&L responsibility
· Bachelor’s degree in related field
